02/05/08 WHO KNOWS WHAT'S IN STORE?

Gemma will be playing an instore at Tower Records, Dublin on May 9th. This is the Tower on Wicklow Street and all the action kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Gemma made a triumphant return to the UK last night with a show at Hoxton Bar and Grill. She has said that she hopes to release an acoustic album later this year and play further U.K dates in September time

Gemma will play some acoustic tour dates in Ireland at the end of May. One is still to be confirmed for Cork but the others are shown in the 'Tour' section

23/04/08 VALENTINE'S DAY

Various news reports are saying that Gemma has been personally invited to play the New York branch of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival. The event is to be held between 19 and 21 September in Kutshers Country Club, Manhattan. Hopefully this date will be confirmed soon. Kevin Shields appears on Gemma's new record and has collaborated previously with her onstage in London

Monday, November 19, 2007 This Is What You Do

Hello As usual sorry for taking so long! I've put up a new song for you all to hear. I will put up a new song a week for the next three weeks and some new photos. The DIY approach is very satisfying but slow. While I'm here I'd like to thank all of you who came to my shows in LA. It was such a joy to play for you all. I can't wait to get touring. The first tour will probably be semi acoustic followed by a full band tour a month or two later. I'll let you know when and where as soon as I know myself! Thanks again for all your support and patience

Gemma has dispelled internet rumours that her new record is called 'Paralyse Girl'. She has confirmed it will be called 'Which way is out' and that it also should be available to buy from her official website before the end of November. Gemma has also let me know that there should be some dates announced in January time for the U.K and Ireland, these will be posted on the site as soon as I receive details

The Cake Sale : Out in UK and North America

Gemma sings on the ‘The Cake Sale’ record for Oxfam. The Cake Sale is a collaboration record featuring a loose and expansive collective of musicians and writers who have combined to create a 9-song CD of previously unreleased recordings. Included on the CD is Gemma singing ‘All The Way Down’ which was written by Glen Hansard (The Frames/ Once the movie). All profits will go to support Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign and their overseas programme work. The album also features performances from members of Snow Patrol, Crowded House, The Frames, The Cardigans, The Thrills, Bell X1 and solo artists like Lisa Hannigan, Josh Ritter and Neil Hannon. 07/05/07 EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY

Gemma has exclusively recorded her track 'November' for charity album 'Clear'. The CD features the talents of musicians from the Ballyporeen & Skeheenarinky area and is raising funds to purchase two Defibrillators for the area as well as providing training for those who will use it. 'November' has not previously been commercially released but is a favourite of many fans.

After our speculation yesterday the Official site has confirmed that Gemma will be appearing at the Meteor Awards on Thursday night. Gemma has been in touch to say her band is going to take a slightly different shape for the new upcoming tour dates. Adam Macdougall, who played keyboards for Gemma on her last U.K tour, (you remember him..white man's afro, white shoes..),is going to be playing the drums. If you see him wearing crocodile skin boots please feel free to make an arrest on behalf of the fashion police...Richard Presley won't be playing guitar on this tour but has been replaced by a 23 year old guitarist who Gemma describes as "brilliant"

News has been posted on the official site : "Gemma's new album 'The Roads Don't Love You' is released next Monday - the 31st October in the UK. And on the same day you can hear Gemma talk about her inspiration behind the album on Radio Two. Gemma appears on the Album Chart Show between 7pm and 8pm on 88-91FM, digital radio and online. The album has also been chosen by 6 Music as their Album Of The Day next Thursday - the 3rd November. After catching up with Gemma last night at her Birmingham gig it turns out that the album cover may not be the one we've already seen! Gemma said she'd chosen a different album cover than the one currently shown on amazon and her official site. The new album cover will feature a cut-out picture of Gemma in the distance with 'gemma hayes - the roads dont love you' written over her picture...hard to picture,but hopefully we'll get the official artwork soon! U.K tour dates have also been announced. Gemma will be calling in at Glasgow King Tuts (October 3rd), Birmingham Glee Club (4th), Manchester MA3 (5th) and London Kings College (6th). The album name comes from a line in the infectious new single 'Happy Sad'

Gemma's version of John Martyn's 'Head and Heart' is now available on the compilation C.D 'The Best of.. The Strawberry Alarm Clock'. All proceeds from sales of the c.d go to the Temple Street Children's University Hospital

Gemma's debut album 'Night On My Side' has charted at number 74 in Hot Press's Top 100 Irish albums poll. They are going to be developing the list further so in order to get Gemma to poll higher, you know what to do kids...make your vote count!

Gemma joined Joe Chester onstage at the Temple Bar Music Centre on Friday night to perform on his song 'a safe place to hide'. The show was part of the 'Hard Working Class Heroes 2004' event which supports musicians in Ireland. For more info on HWCH, click here
